A grant has been made available to eligible businesses forced to close until 2 December due to the new national restrictions.

Herefordshire Council is delivering the government funding to eligible local businesses instructed to close through national lockdown. This includes non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, entertainment and hospitality.

The grant award is based on the property’s rateable value as follows:

  • Grant award of £1,334 per four weeks for properties with a rateable value of £15k or under
  • Grant award of £2,000 per four weeks for properties with a rateable value of between £15k – £51k
  • Grant award of £3,000 per four weeks for properties with a rateable value of £51k or over

The council will contact all eligible businesses by sending an email from localrestrictionsgrant@herefordshire.gov.uk. We appreciate that emails asking for bank details may be concerning, so we can provide your property reference number if required or we can send you a cheque if you provide the payee name on the business account.

Councillor Liz Harvey, Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Services said:

“During the first lockdown, the council processed £61.8m in grant funding to local businesses. I sincerely hope that this additional funding can relieve some of the pressure faced by local businesses, and I would like to thank all businesses for following the new national restrictions

“Please remember that you do not need to contact the council, as our dedicated staff are working hard, including over weekends, contacting businesses directly to make sure that support gets to those who need it as soon as possible.”

Details of an additional discretionary business grant are being finalised. There is more information about the range of support available to business on the Herefordshire Council website.
