Families have been left upset, after finding warning signs attached to headstones at Hereford Crematorium.

A number of headstones have tags on stating, ‘this memorial is unsafe, please do not touch’.

To make matters worse, the warning signs were placed on headstones just before Mother’s Day.

One member of the public told Your Herefordshire:

“Hereford Crematorium have been labelling gravestones in plot M on left hand side of the main road as unsafe.

“Large yellow tags have been attached to numerous headstones in this plot stating.

“WARNING this memorial is unsafe. Do not touch.

“We were surprised to see this on my Mum’s grave and were even more surprised to find the headstone solid as a rock.

“We went to the office and were told a wobble machine was used and all the headstones tagged wobbled.

“I’m not sure what force this machine applied but it’s clearly more than any man could muster.

“Looking at all the other plots, there are plenty of unsteady looking headstones around that are not tagged.

“It really feels like a money making exercise, and we feel really it’s very unfair.

“We are being asked to foot the bill for a mason to repair the headstone when the final result won’t be any different to now.

“Also the tags were insensitively put on just before Mother’s Day. We are not convinced that my Mum’s grave is unsafe.

“Suffice to say we are appealing the decision.”
