A family from Herefordshire are struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one and say that the extra financial burden of funeral costs are adding extra strain.

Michael Cale has set up a Just Giving page to help raise funds for his Dad Andy’s funeral.

A post on the Go Fund Me page says:

Thankyou for taking the time to look at my gofundme. Anyone that knows me and my family know that we very rarely ask for help, we’ve never had to do anything like this before and we were not prepared for how everything with my dad happened so quickly.

He was ill for a number of years and only got worse as time went on. He had to go into hospital a few weeks ago to control a fluid build up in his leg. We were then told just how bad things had become.

We made the decision to try and get him home when we were first able to. He had to go into St Michael’s Hospice for some symptom control after almost making it to being at home for two weeks and he went downhill extremely quickly. No one was ready for it at all. We still think he will come around the corner at home at any minute.

We find ourselves now at the extremely upsetting and unfortunate time of trying to organise a funeral for him with no sort of finances as we struggle to get by every month before this happened.

All we ask is for any help which would be extremely appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Michael and family.
