The driver of a lorry that caught fire on a busy road in Hereford has avoided injury, it has been confirmed.

The driver of a Bartonsham Dairies lorry noticed that his lorry had caught fire when he was driving on Aylestone Hill in Hereford on Tuesday.

He quickly pulled over, got out of his cab and informed the emergency services. Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews attended the call, alongside West Mercia Police officers.

The road was closed for a number of hours but the wife of the driver commented on one of our Facebook statuses confirming that the driver was fine by saying, “He is fine. Thank you for your concern. No injuries at all. It was my husband.”
