Does more need to be done to stop cars parking in cycle lanes across Hereford? It is a daily occurrence in some parts, particularly in the cycle lane that was installed on Ledbury Road last year.
Conservative Councillor for Newton Farm, Ann-Marie Probert took a trip across the city to see what it’s like to cycle around Hereford and here’s what she found.
Cllr Probert said:
“So they say we don’t need a bypass. I decided today to go out on my bike to visit my parents and apparently we have some amazing cycle paths to use.
“I live on Holme Lacy Road by the Co-op and they live in Tupsley. Just past my house I find a cycle lane, then it stops and I’m out on the main road all the way down to the Canary Bridge turning.
“Apparently I’m meant to ride the path. Well I hope no one is walking alongside me.
“Ledbury Road, so there is only a bike lane one way so I presume I use it to go both ways so on the way back I will be riding into oncoming traffic to get around the cars. Hmmm is this a good way to travel?”
