COVID-19 infection rates are continuing to rise in Herefordshire, with a number of schools, educational settings and businesses beginning to struggle with staff off work self-isolating.
The main areas where infection rates are ‘very high’ at present are the Lugwardine, Withington & Moreton on Lugg area, Leominster North and South, parts of Hereford city and the Ross-on-Wye and Bromyard areas.
Overall in Herefordshire, a total of 1,669 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the seven day period ending 17th March. This is an increase of 42% on the previous seven day period and means that the current COVID-19 infection rate in Herefordshire is ‘very high’ at 862 cases per 100,000 population.
A number of schools in the area are struggling with staffing numbers, with Blackmarston School and The Hereford Academy announcing partial closures to year groups this week.
