Could McDonald’s and Greggs be planning to open new Drive-Thru restaurants in Hereford?

Your Herefordshire understands that McDonald’s is considering opening a new drive thru restaurant in Hereford, with other locations across Herefordshire also being considered.

Potential sites in the Holmer area of Hereford are thought to be being considered.

The company has also submitted a planning application for a drive thru restaurant in Ross-on-Wye, although this application received significant objections from residents.

McDonald’s has also looked at sites in the Leominster area over recent years.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s said:

“We’re looking to open 300 new restaurants over the next 10 years. Creating up to 20,000 job opportunities.

McDonald’s are looking for sites that include the following:

Greenfield/Brownfield sites, existing buildings suitable for Drive Thru conversions.

Located on retail or leisure parks

On main arterial routes

Co-located with hotels and petrol stations

A minimum of 3600 sq ft restaurant, plus car parking, or minimum of 0.5 acres.

It is understood that Greggs is also looking to open a new Drive-Thru outlet in the country, with north Hereford looking one of the likely options.
