For a population of nearly 200,000 people in the whole county, Herefordshire only has four railway stations. They are Hereford, Ledbury, Colwall and Leominster.

But this all could change if Golden Valley Parkway is built.

It is around 22 miles from Hereford to Abergavenny with no railway station in between, and the line currently runs through Pontrilas, where over a dozen trains on a daily basis whizz by the former station.

Pontrilas station was originally closed in 1958 but local residents are looking for trains once again to stop there and have created a Facebook page to support this called Golden Valley Parkway.

Herefordshire Council recently announce that they would spend £50,000 developing a strategic outline business case for the potential new station in partnership with rail industry figures.
