The Met Office has issued a Weather Warning for heavy rain across parts of Mid Wales on Tuesday.

With levels on the River Wye remaining very high following heavy rain over the weekend, there are concerns that further heavy rain could lead to more widespread flooding.

The River Wye peaked at 4.7 metres in Hereford overnight and is now slowly falling, but with much of the ground saturated in Mid Wales and river levels still high, it wouldn’t take much rain to cause further flooding.

The Met Office Warning for Mid Wales on Tuesday says:

“Outbreaks of rain will spread across England and Wales during Tuesday. This will be heaviest and most persistent across parts of Wales, particularly over higher ground. Rainfall totals of 80-100 mm could accumulate over high ground.”
