The government will hold an emergency COBRA meeting today after several European countries imposed travel bans on people travelling from the United Kingdom.
France went one step further by banning all freight from the United Kingdom by closing the border at midnight for at least 48 hours.
The COBRA meeting today will discuss the situation regarding international travel but Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has said that the COVID-19 vaccine will not be disrupted by the ban on travel.
All of this news comes as the United Kingdom warned the World Health Organisation about a new strain of COVID-19 that appears to spread up to 70% faster than the original strain and is being blamed for the recent huge spike in cases in parts of London, the South East of England and Eastern England.
