A community has been left in shock following the sudden closure of a popular pub.

It has been confirmed today that The George in Ludlow has permanently closed with Oakman Inns entering administration.

Located in the heart of Ludlow, The George was a welcoming place for the local community.

A post shared on social media said:

“Following the appointment of the Joint Administrators on Monday 21st July 2025 this site has ceased to trade and is now closed.

“A dedicated website has been set up to answer any questions you might have – www.pwc.co.uk/oirl

“Ross Connock, Mark James Tobias Banfield and Tom Crookham have been appointed as Joint Administrators of Oakman Inns and Restaurants Limited and Oakman Dev Limited to manage their affairs, business and property as their agents and without personal liability.

“The Joint Administrators are licensed in the United Kingdom to act as insolvency practitioners by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

“The Joint Administrators are bound by the Insolvency Code of Ethics which can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/ publications/insolvency-practitioner-code-of-ethics.

The Joint Administrators may act as controllers of personal data as defined by UK data protection law depending upon the specific processing activities undertaken.

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP may act as a processor on the instructions of the Joint Administrators. Personal data will be kept secure and processed only for matters relating to the Joint Administrators appointment.
