City Trees and Planters are set to be installed in Hereford to help reduce pollution and make the city greener.

The large ‘City Trees’ are actually more like large units and don’t really look anything like trees, but they help to take in particulates and nitrogen oxides whilst simultaneously producing oxygen.

“City Trees” are a unique and bespoke product that provides a moss filtration system to improve air quality.

Three City Tree units are set to be purchased, with a decision agreed by Herefordshire Council to award a contract to purchase three “City Tree” units as part of the HCCI project within a value of £189,294.30.

A number of planters are also set to be purchased for the River Wye & Cathedral Quarter of the city. The council took the decision to approve the purchase of tree planters for the Cathedral and River Wye Quarter as part of the HCCI project. These elements are to be purchased and installed within a budget of £255,000.00.

Planters will also be installed in the City Link Road area, with Herefordshire Council approving the purchase of tree planters for the City Link Road as part of the HCCI project. This element is to be purchased and installed within a budget of £335,000.00 which includes an allowance for risk.
