The recent Autumn flooding in Herefordshire has left a Canon Pyon resident seething with anger.

John Campbell lives in a property which wasn’t constructed by Stonewater, but is an old building acquired by them a few years ago, and was previously owned by Marches housing. The house is in fact over 100 years old.

During September and October 2024 Your Herefordshire shared various photographs of properties across the county which had been subjected to major flood damage. John’s property was subjected to significant flooding with water coming into the house.

John told Your Herefordshire.

“There is a refusal by our landlords ( Stonewater Housing ) to take any preventative measures, namely a brick wall with flood gate options, and they also tell us that Hereford Council refuse to allow this on the grounds that it would divert floodwater to other properties, which I and everybody else that has looked at this find ridiculous.

John has also met with his current MP Ellie Chowns who is doing her best to help the situation.

“The meeting went well, we only had a 20 minute slot but she certainly got the drift of things and was appalled by some of the photos and videos I had taken. She said she would be in touch with the chief executive of both Hereford Council and Stonewater Housing regarding their refusal to allow flood protection at our home and will keep us informed. Just for the record the only work carried out by Stonewater has been one hour of labour to remove skirting boards”

Your Herefordshire emailed Stonewater Housing for a response on Thursday 7th November 2024, but as of yet have not had a reply.
