468 further deaths announced in the United Kingdom today, but that hasn’t stopped a large crowd descending on Hyde Park in #London to protest against the lockdown restrictions.
Police have arrested several members of the public. We understand this news isn’t local, but the impact of gatherings anywhere in the United Kingdom could raise the possibility of a second wave of the virus. The Guardian reported yesterday that Herefordshire is currently one of the areas with the highest number of new cases per 100,000 population over the past ten days.
A Met Police spokesman said, as of 2pm, six people had been arrested in the Hyde Park area.
Protestors held banners with slogans such as “this is not about a virus, this is about control” and clashed with police. Police remain at the scene but the crowds are believed to have dispersed.
