West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses or information after a man was believed to have gone into the River Wye yesterday evening (Tuesday 20 April).
Officers received a report of a concern for safety at just before 9.30pm when a member of the public noticed a man near on Riverside Walk, Ross-on-Wye.
The man was seen shining a torch in the river and then it is understood he may have entered the water.
Inspector Tony Freeman said: “We carried out a full search of the local area yesterday evening along with our colleagues from the emergency services but we were not able to locate the man.
“It may be that he only entered the water for a short time as the water is fairly shallow at that point but we would appeal for any witnesses that may have seen him or know his whereabouts now.”
The man is described as wearing jeans and a burgundy coloured lumber jacket style top with a grey hoody underneath. He has light short hair and is thought to be aged between 16 and 25.
