An 18-year-old man has died following a collision involving a car and an e-scooter in Cheltenham on Saturday night (24 January).
The man, who had been riding the e-scooter, was taken to Southmead Hospital by paramedics after the collision, and died in hospital yesterday evening (Sunday 25 January).
His family is being supported by a specially trained officer.
A man aged in his 20s and from Cheltenham had been arrested on Sunday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and he was rearrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Four other people were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Emergency services had been called at around 11pm on Saturday to St Paul’s Road, near to the junction with Folly Lane, following a collision involving a car and an e-scooter.
The driver of the car, which is thought to have been a white Kia, did not stop at the scene.
Following police enquiries a white Kia was seized for further investigative work to take place.
Those who were arrested have since been released under investigation to allow for further enquiries to take place.
Investigating officers are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage.
