Pigs in Blankets are a cult Christmas favourite and this year, supermarket Aldi is launching a ‘lickable’ Pigs in Blankets wrapping paper to give shoppers a fun and tasty twist when it comes to gift-wrapping.
With over 561 million Pigs in Blankets predicted to be eaten over the festive period*, an average of 10 per person, Aldi’s latest innovation is bound to tantalise tastebuds.
The limited-edition wrapping paper is inspired by the Good Housekeeping Christmas 2025 Best Pigs in Blankets winner – Aldi’s brand-new Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets (£2.49, 250g). It captures the smoky, savoury flavour and smell of the festive treat, with stickers that peel back to reveal a truly unique, lickable experience.
The novelty wrapping paper not only tastes and smells like delicious Pigs in Blankets, it also looks charming on presents with its pastel pink design, festive holly and snowflake patterns.
For shoppers looking to add a tasteful touch to their presents, a roll of limited-edition wrapping paper can be claimed from 24th November through an exclusive shopper competition. To enter, entrants simply need to email wrappingpaper@aldi.co.uk with their full name.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, says: “Pigs in Blankets are a highlight of the festive season and following our Good Housekeeping award win for the new Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, we wanted to create something special to celebrate the Christmas classic. This unique, lickable wrapping paper is the perfect way to spread extra joy on Christmas Day.”
To help shoppers make the most of this unique creation, Aldi has teamed up with professional gift wrapper, Louise Lewis, to give her top tips for wrapping presents in style:
- The ‘perfect fit’ ribbon trick: To avoid bulky wrapping and wasted paper, take a piece of flexible ribbon or string and wrap it around the gift’s main body (its circumference). This is the exact length of paper you need. For the width, measure the ribbon around just over half of each end. This ensures the paper fits snugly and helps you position feature patterns – such as the peel-and-lick Pigs in Blankets stickers – perfectly in the centre.
- The toilet roll hack: For those little stocking fillers, recycle a toilet roll holder – strange as it sounds! Place the small gift inside, then using your thumbs, fold the ends of the roll inwards on both ends to create a closed tube shape. Then use a little bit of the Pigs in Blankets wrapping paper to go around the outside.
- The ‘Diagonal Method’ hack: Running short on wrapping paper is more common than you’d think, but there’s a clever trick to save the day. The Diagonal Method allows you to wrap an oddly sized gift with minimal waste. Instead of placing the gift parallel to the paper’s edges, turn it 45 degrees so it sits like a diamond in the centre. Pull the corners of the paper up and over the gift. You’ll be amazed at how this diagonal fold gives you the extra coverage you need.
- The ‘designer look’ craft paper hack: Running low on novelty wrapping paper? Take a sheet of plain brown wrapping paper and cut a smaller sheet of your decorative paper. Layer the festive paper on top of the plain paper, creating a chic border or ‘half and half’ look. This doubles your usable surface area, letting you wrap larger gifts while creating a trendy, rustic look.
- Awkward shaped present? Make your own gift bag: When gifts come in unusual shapes, traditional wrapping can be tricky. Creating your own gift bag is a versatile solution: cut and fold paper to fit the item, then secure it with tape or ribbon. This method works especially well for tall, round, or irregularly shaped gifts, and gives you more control over presentation. You can even decorate the bag with extra stickers or tags to complement the Pigs in Blankets theme.
Louise, who has been professionally wrapping gifts for more than a decade, says: “Wrapping a gift isn’t just about neat corners, it’s about creating a little moment of magic before it’s even opened. Aldi’s Lickable Pigs in Blankets paper adds a playful touch that makes even the smallest gift an experience worth remembering.”
Aldi’s NEW Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets (£2.49, 250g) come wrapped with an extra rasher of streaky bacon for the ultimate indulgence. The tasty, award-winning trimming is part of Aldi’s most decadent range of Pigs in Blankets to date, including the luxurious classic Specially Selected the Ultimate Pigs in Blankets (£2.99, 300g), and the cheesy must-have Specially Selected Cheese in Blankets (£2.49, 250g).
