The A49 is currently closed in both directions near Leominster following a collision.

The closure is in place between the A44 (Worcester Road) junction and the Wharton.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told Your Herefordshire:

“We received a call around 2:20pm this afternoon (8 November) with a report of a road traffic collision on the A49 between Leominster and Wharton. 

“Officers arrived to find one vehicle involved. 

“Thankfully, no injuries to report. 

“Officers will remain at the incident to await recovery and manage traffic.”

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service added:

“Three Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Leominster, Kingsland and Hereford Fire Stations – were called at 14:29 on 8 November to an RTC involving a large vehicle in Wharton. 

“The incident involved an SUV with a trailer which had gone into a hedge and was on its side. Police are in attendance and have closed the road in both directions.

“There are no casualties but ambulance are also in attendance. The incident is ongoing.”
