A warning has been issued following a concerning incident which has left an elderly person extremely distressed.

In a post on social media, Georgi said:

We want to make others aware of a very concerning incident that happened to us this morning.

We received a phone call from someone pretending to be from a window company, claiming we owed them money and had refused to pay our bill…. We haven’t had any new windows or doors so go figure.

When we informed them of this they became aggressive and made serious threats, including saying they would come onto our property while we were asleep to damage and remove our windows and doors, and destroy our belongings.

The call was unfortunately taken by my 83-year-old grandmother, who has a serious heart condition.

This has left her extremely distressed and shaken— this kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and could have had very serious consequences.

Luckily we have full 360 CCTV on the property and our phone calls are all automatically recorded when the number is unknown.

All evidence, including recordings and the phone number used, has been passed to the police, and a formal statement has been given. The matter is now under investigation.

Please be aware:

  • Do not engage with unsolicited calls demanding money
  • Never share personal or financial details over the phone
  • Report anything suspicious to the police

If anyone else in the WR6 area has received similar calls or has any information, please contact the police.

And to whoever made this call—if this was some kind of “joke,” it is not funny. It has caused real distress.

Please do the right thing and come forward, own it and apologise!
