A million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have now been delivered across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The milestone was reached on Saturday as part of the weekend’s ‘Grab a jab’ big weekend.

Simon Trickett, Chief Executive Officer for NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG said:“Delivering 1million vaccines is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the dedication and determination of our hardworking NHS staff, volunteers, partners and all those who have taken up their offer of a vaccine across the two counties.

“We’ve still got work to do to ensure that everyone over 18 can receive their vaccination in the coming weeks as we approach the proposed lifting of the final Government restrictions and we can get on with enjoying the summer.

“I encourage everyone who is eligible to come forward, either by booking online or by calling 119.”

As part of supporting the national ‘Grab a Jab’ weekend, vaccinations were ramped up and offered at 18 locations across the two counties including walk-ins at the Artrix in Bromsgrove and the Guildhall in Worcester.

Dr. Gemma Moore, Clinical Director at SW Healthcare and GP Partner at Ombersley Medical Centre said: “People from all walks of life have passed through our doors this weekend to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. It’s been a fantastic event, with the enthusiasm and excitement of our local community proving that this vaccine really is changing lives.

“We’d like to extend our thanks in particular to the staff and volunteers at the Guildhall in Worcester, who’ve gone above and beyond to help set up our pop-up site in their historic building—as well as our vaccinators and site teams who’ve worked throughout the weekend to make it happen.”

People who have not yet taken up the vaccine offer can visit: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/ or call 119 to book an appointment for their Covid-19 vaccination.

Bookings are not always available at all locations, if travelling further for an appointment is not convenient people are encouraged to keep checking the National Booking System using the link above.

The Midlands became the first region in the country to surpass the 10million vaccines mark in May 2021.

NHS England and NHS Improvement is encouraging everyone across the Midlands to share what the vaccine means to them by sharing pictures or videos on social media using the hashtag #WhatItMeansToMe.
