A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following the death of a woman at an address in the city on Saturday (2 March) evening.

Damian Homer, 50, of Worcester, was charged with the offences this morning (Monday 4 March) and will appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court today.

The charges are in relation to the death of Wendy Francis, aged 61, at an address in Haresfield Close, Worcester on Saturday.

A second woman, aged 38, was taken to hospital in the incident. Her condition is now stable, and she continues to receive medical treatment.

The family of Wendy Francis have paid tribute to a much-loved lady who was ‘one in a million’.

Although formal identification has yet to take place, with permission of the family Police are able to confirm that Wendy Francis, aged 61, sadly lost her life in an incident which is being investigated by West Mercia Police.

In a statement Wendy’s family said: “Wendy will be hugely missed; she was one in a million and much-loved.”

The family have asked that their privacy is respected now.

A murder investigation was launched following the death of a 61-year-old woman at an address in Haresfield Close, Worcester.

Emergency services attended the address around 8.30pm on Saturday evening (2 March). 

Another woman, aged 38, was found with life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding of the Major Investigation Unit said: “I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

“You will notice a higher police presence in the area in the coming days as officers investigate this incident.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has sadly lost her life.”
