An investigation has been launched in Malvern following a serious assault.
Officers were called to The Beauchamp Arms on Worcester Road at around 10.15pm yesterday (Sunday 31 December) following reports of an incident outside of the premises.
On arrival officers found a man, aged in his 60s, with life threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A 52-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Garner, said: “I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that there is no wider risk to the public.
“We currently have one man in custody and we are not looking anyone else in connection with this incident.
“Officers will be in the area for the next couple of days whilst we carry out enquiries to form part of our investigation.”
