From Marden Parish Council:
Moreton Bridge- Good News!
All the necessary permissions are now in place and work can commence.
from Herefordshire Council:
“We are pleased to be able to advise that, thanks to the efforts of our team chasing the Environment Agency and Ed Bradford escalating with them, we have now secured the final consent for the Flood Risk Activity Permit (FRAP) from the EA.
“This means that we are now able to recommence the scaffolding works and commence the main works.
“Our team will return to site next Wednesday the 12 March to complete the scaffold and then progress with the repair works.
“We currently anticipate works to be completed by the 25 April, subject to us not finding any more extensive damage when the parapets are removed.
“We would highlight that given the historic status of the bridge our stonemasons have to preserve the existing stones and coping, taking the parapets down carefully, removing the mortar and then reconstructing the parapets with the existing stone and lime mortar.
“As a result, progress may appear to be slower than people might anticipate, but this process is necessary to comply with the conservation requirements.
“We will as ever seek to improve on the programme of works, as we recognise the impact this ongoing closure has on the communities in the area.”
