West Mercia Police confirm that the M5 remains closed in Worcestershire this morning following a fatal collision overnight.
At approximately 20:23 yesterday evening a serious collision occurred resulting in the closure of the M5 northbound within J4A (Worcestershire).
West Mercia Police led a multi agency response to the incident.
National Highways attended to assist with traffic management.
Police collision investigations and recovery operation were completed overnight.
Assessments of the carriageway are now being made due to a spillage at the scene.
The carriageway is expected to remain closed through the morning.
Road users are advised to follow the below diversion, which is not symbol led.
Exit the M5 northbound at J4A onto the M42 northbound
Remain on the M42 northbound for approximately 5 miles and exit the M42 northbound at J2 (for Redditch/Hopwood Services)
At the roundabout take the 5th exit and enter the M42 southbound
Stay on the M42 southbound for approximately 5 miles returning to J4a of the M5 and take the exit onto the M5 northbound
