A Hereford man has been convicted of drug dealing and handed a suspended sentence at court.
Jamie Buckland, 22, of St Owen Gate, Hereford was given a total of 22 months, suspended for two years, when he appeared before Worcester Crown Court on Friday 5 December.
Buckland was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and for possession of a drug – ketamine. He was further ordered to pay £200 costs.
A warrant was executed at his home address on 18 June 2024 following phone evidence linking him to drug dealing in the Hereford area.
Officers found ketamine at the address and two mobile phones were seized, and Buckland was arrested.
Examination of the phones showed extensive amount of cocaine and cannabis supply, and he was charged for these offences leading to Friday’s sentencing.
DC Lia Williams of Hereford CID said: “This was a good result in terms of cutting out another drug supply line in Hereford as we are all too aware the harm that drugs reap on our communities.
“While some may view the suspended sentence as lenient, the judge in this case took Buckland’s no previous convictions and good prospect of rehabilitation into account so we hope he will take this route and not cross our paths again.
“If he does not opt for this route to redemption his suspended sentence will be activated, and he will go to prison to serve the 22-month sentence.”
