A Flood Warning has been issued on the River Wye between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford.
The Environment Agency issued the warning this morning, following heavy rain across Mid Wales throughout the evening and overnight period.
Levels at Hereford are expected to peak later today / early Friday. Unfortunately due to strike action, the Environment Agency are currently unable to share predicted levels.
Based on previous floods and levels upstream, we’d estimate a peak of between 4.9-5.4 metres in Hereford, but there is a chance it could be higher than that with levels still rising in Wales.
Overnight rain should clear to leave a fairly dry day on Thursday, but river levels are expected to remain high.
A flood alert is also in force on the rest of the Wye in Herefordshire, where levels are now starting to respond to the heavy rain.
Flooding is expected in the Hereford area on Thursday, with prone routes such as the A438 (Brecon Road) at Letton and Holme Lacy Road in Hereford likely to be affected by flooding.
We’ll have further updates throughout the day.
