A domestic abuser has been handed a community order and a restraining order after being convicted at Worcester Crown Court.
Daniel Hawkins, 36, of Harbours Close, Bromsgrove, pled guilty to two counts of common assault, one of malicious communications and one count of criminal damage, all domestic related on January 3.
He was sentenced to a community order of 100 hours of unpaid work, 30 rehabilitation activity requirements and a five-year restraining order against his victim.
Hawkins’ conviction follows a woman contacting West Mercia Police reporting extensive domestic abuse that she had been victim to for several years.
She bravely came forward and described being assaulted and threatened, ranging from threats to harm her with a bladed article to assaulting her with boiling water.
West Mercia Police has supported the victim throughout offering support and advice and preparing the case for prosecution.
Investigating officer Police Constable Ryan Clarke said: “West Mercia Police takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously, we will always pro-actively tackle this type of behaviour and prosecute offenders who perpetrate this vile crime.
“Victims of domestic abuse will be supported by both officers at scene and our specialised protecting vulnerable people team in partnership with relevant charities throughout.
“This has been a lengthy investigation in which the victim has been incredibly brave in providing police with their evidence and continuing to support the prosecution for all this time.
“This conviction proves that domestic abuse can occur in any household at any time, police are always here to support victims of crime and I encourage people to contact 101 if they suffer from domestic abuse.”
