A country pub was struck by lightning during storms that hit Herefordshire on Monday evening.

The Green Dragon at Bishops Frome reported on social media that the pub had been struck by lightning during severe storms that hit the area on Monday evening.

Local residents reported hearing a loud bang at the time of the lightning strike.

A post on Facebook said:

“I’m absolutely positive a few of my neighbours will have hear the massive bang during that rather hectic thunderstorm.

“Well that was The Green Dragon getting struck by lightning.

“A blinding flash in the corridor upstairs at the same time as an ear shattering bang. It felt like my head was going to explode and every single hair on me stood to attention.

“Em and I are ok but the same can’t be said for the technology. On the whole the modern electric system has saved the day and pretty much everything is just blown fuses but anything without one of those is completely buggered.

“So no internet amongst other things technological. I will try and get everything fixed by Wednesday in time for pizzas.”

Other parts of Herefordshire and Worcestershire also saw torrential downpours, with flooded roads in Hereford and fallen trees on a number of local roads.
