8 year old Louis Fisher from Herefordshire was honoured this afternoon at a ceremony with the High Sheriff of Herefordshire Pat Churchward.

Back in September of this year Louis embarked on a 50 mile charity bike ride from Hereford to the top of Pen Y Fan. This was in memory of his little friend George who had passed away in 2020.

It was remarkable feat for a 8 year old and Louis raised £4,000 for George’s Fund. Which is a specially named fund of the Herefordshire Community Foundation. They give grants to local projects that help primary-aged children overcome physical and emotional barriers through outdoor projects.

George’s mum Laura Hughes told Your Herefordshire “It was such a lovely thing for Louis to do and the whole school and parents have come together in support of us. We were told its very rare that children get this award so its a brilliant achievement”

Pat Churchward the High Sheriff of Herefordshire commented “It was a fantastic thing for Louis to have done and the fund will go on from strength to strength due to his efforts. I was so proud of him and it was an honour to present him with the award for his incredible initiative in raising money”
