Marlbrook Primary School in Hereford has put extra measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 after confirming that 25 pupils had tested positive over recent days, with around 40 children awaiting a PCR result.
A letter sent to parents of pupils at Marlbrook Primary School in Hereford said:
Dear Parents/ Carers
As we are all aware, cases of Covid have increased dramatically over the past 2 weeks across South Herefordshire. Understandably you are all concerned by the sharp rise, and this morning parents have asked for an update on numbers in school, which I am happy to provide, but please be aware this will change on an almost daily basis.
Currently, of the 630 children in school, 25 have been confirmed as Covid positive (none in Nursery and Reception). However we have approximately 40 children awaiting PCR results.
• At the present time, there is no intention to return to class bubbles, which had limited impact during the last lock-down. We will continue operating in year group bubbles when inside the building.
• School assemblies have been cancelled for the time being.
• Children will still be able to mix with other year groups in their keystage, but only when outside.
• We have already increased the number of entrance and exit gates and the 15 minute windows for registering in the morning (8.40-8.55) and the end of day collection from 3.15–3.30 will remain in place.
• Individual pupil photo’s will take place on Thursday 30th September but we will not be able to take photo’s with siblings, as this will rely on multiple classes lining up at the same time.
• We will continue to follow the guidance issued by Public Health and the DfE, and will let you know of any changes as they arise.
• If your child is poorly, with any of the Covid symptoms, please administer a LFT. If this is positive, take them for a PCR and keep them at home until you have the results.
