1,203 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Herefordshire in a recent seven day period.

Data released by Public Health England shows that in the seven day period ending 25th September, a total of 1,203 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the county. This is an increase of 83.9% on the previous seven days, with a number of schools in the county recording a large number of cases, particularly in children aged 10-14 years-old. The infection rate amongst children aged 10-14 years-old is currently more than 4,000 cases per 100,000 population.

Infection rates have been rising across Herefordshire over recent days and weeks, with the South Wye area recording infection rates above 1,000 cases per 100,000 population. However, these increases are now spreading to other areas of the county, with the Holmer and Tupsley areas of Hereford, as well as Moreton-on-Lugg and Lugwardine now seeing ‘very high’ levels of infection.

The following areas of Herefordshire currently have ‘very high’ levels of COVID-19 infection.

Lugwardine, Withington & Moreton on Lugg – 76 new cases (Infection rate of 956 cases per 100,000 population)

Hereford East – 70 new cases (Infection rate of 1,178 cases per 100,000 population)

Hereford South – 116 new cases (Infection rate of 1,186 cases per 100,000 population)

Hereford South West – 154 new cases (Infection rate of 1,861 cases per 100,000 population)

Hereford North East – 64 new cases (Infection rate of 808 cases per 100,000 population)

Belmont, Madley & Clehonger – 82 new cases (Infection rate of 1,197 cases per 100,000 population)
