UPDATE from Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service:

“Six firefighters using breathing apparatus are involved in fighting the fire and a thermal imaging camera is also in use.”

“Positive ventilation is being used to clear smoke from the building and the fire service drone was also brought into use.”

Fire crews from across Herefordshire are currently tackling a fire inside the new student apartments opposite Morrisons in Hereford. Crews were called just before midday after reports of a fire in a stairwell and on the second floor of the building.

Six crews from Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service are currently on the scene, as well as the Incident Command Unit. A rapid response paramedic and the police are also in attendance.

Workers from the site have all been evacuated from the site and the nearby Hereford Railway Station remains open at this moment in time.
