The hot spell looks set to continue and levels on the River Wye in Herefordshire look set to drop further. Although unlike the River Teme, the Wye isn’t expected to completely dry up.

Dave Throup from the Environment Agency spoke to us earlier and had the following to say:

‘Levels on the Wye in Herefordshire are well below what we’d expect to see at this time of the year and with no reliable rainfall forecast they are likely to fall further.

We may have to restrict abstractions further in the near future as a result.

Releases of water from reservoirs in Wales are helping but we need to balance the needs of agriculture, businesses, people and the environment.’
