Flooding is causing significant disruption in Herefordshire this morning, with a number of routes closed, or partially blocked due to flooding.
The worst of the rain has now moved northwards away from Herefordshire, but some heavy showers are likely at times today.
The A40 is closed eastbound between Monmouth and Symonds Yat due to a landslide. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route with the road likely to remain closed for several hours.
The A4013 is blocked at Fromes Hill between Hereford and Worcester by flooding. Motorists are still attempting to get through the flood water but a number of cars are reported to have got stuck.
The A44 has a lot of standing water in areas between Bromyard and Worcester.
The A438 Hereford to Ledbury road has some flooding between Trumpet and Tarrington. The closure on this route appears to have been lifted but we’d still advise using an alternative route.
Bromyard Road in Ledbury is closed, and also the C1122 in Wellington.
Please do not drive past road closed signs or into flood water as there may be hidden dangers – flood levels may have dropped on certain roads but roads are not reopened until they have been inspected for safety.
A number of flood alerts are in place on rivers in the county. The River Wye is expected to peak today in Hereford, at around 4.5 metres, or possible slightly higher, which is far above the original estimate shared by the Environment Agency on Thursday evening when they estimated that levels would peak in Hereford at around 4 metres.
Alerts are also in force on the River Lugg, River Arrow, River Leadon Catchment and River Frome.
A flood warning is on force on the River Teme, with flooding likely at Bransford.
Please send us your updates so that we can help to keep the county moving.
