West Mercia Police officers have told Your Herefordshire that the riverside path in Hereford is likely to remain closed for several hours, due to police investigating an incident near the Victoria Bridge.
Officers have been in the area since the early hours of this morning and have cordoned off the riverside path between the Old Bridge and the Victoria Bridge, with officers advising members of the public to seek alternative routes to work and the city centre.
Your Herefordshire has approached West Mercia Police for further information, especially as concerns will be raised, with a number of incidents occurring near the River Wye in recent weeks, including a report of rape near Asda last weekend and also an incident where a male is reported to have indecently exposed himself to a woman on the riverside path near the Greyfriars Bridge early last week.
Anyone wishing to access Hereford city centre is advised to use the Old Bridge or Greyfriars Bridge, as well as the pedestrian and cycle path to Rotherwas via the Canary Bridge.
Further updates to follow.
