Police confirmed on Tuesday evening that an arrest has been made following an incident in Hereford.

The incident occurred on Holmer Road, near Holmer Primary School, at around 3.10pm. Parents and members of the public reported seeing a man near the school with a weapon.

A significant police presence was seen in the area, with a helicopter seen over the Holmer area of the city.

Parents and children were placed into a lockdown at the school, before being allowed to leave at just after 4pm.

An update shared by West Mercia Police on Tuesday evening said:

“An arrest has been made following a report of man in possession of a knife on Holmer Road in Hereford this afternoon (14 January).

“A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article.

“He remains in police custody.”
