Kings Acre Road has been closed since early this morning after a van collided with a telegraph pole, causing it to fall into the middle of the road.
Engineers from Western Power Distribution are on site alongside the fire service and police while work to replace the telegraph pole takes place.
The road is expected to be back open at some point later this afternoon.
Local residents have reported problems on Huntington Lane with many drivers using the narrow route as an unofficial diversion.
