A cocaine dealer was given a sentence of 30 months when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday 21 May).
Abdul Mumin, 31, of Northfield Street, Worcester, (pictured) was targeted by South Worcestershire Proactive CID in March as part of an operation targeting drug dealing lines in and around the city.
Mumin was arrested on Thursday 27 March on suspicion or running a deal line. He was found in possession of mobile phones and drugs and assaulted a police officer at the time of his arrest as he attempted to destroy evidence.
Yesterday at court he was convicted of possession with intent to supply a class A drug – cocaine for which he was sentenced to 30 months.
He was further sentenced to two months concurrently for assault by beating of an emergency worker and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187.
DC Olivia Sheward, of South Worcestershire Proactive CID, said: “On Thursday 27 March officers from CID made a successful effort to arrest Mumin as part of an operation targeting drug dealing lines. As a result of this a significant quantity of Class A drugs were recovered.
“We hope today’s sentence shows we will not tolerate drug dealing in our county and the harm it reaps upon our communities.
“We will always act upon intelligence, and will continue to disrupt, target and apprehend those who are involved dealing drugs.”
