In Memory of Bryan Davies. Much loved and always remembered.
Born in New Quay in Wales in 1932, Bryan grew up in the small fishing town spending most of his days fishing, climbing cliffs and working on the boats.
During his National service he became an expert dog handler and from there decided to join the police.
Starting out as a constable in Glamorgan, Bryan was lured towards the bright lights of London and transferred to the London Metropolitan police force.
There he was regularly on the beat in London’s West End, crossing paths with gangland criminals and film stars alike.
In 1956, enticed into teaching by a friend (and the school holidays), he changed careers and made the move into primary education, a job he did with a passion for over 30 years.
Bryan settled in Herefordshire with his beloved wife Kay.
He taught at Marlbrook and St Martins Primary School for many years before becoming Headteacher of Withington Primary School and then Credenhilll Primary School until 1994.
A very happy retirement was spent taking photographs, involvement with the parish council, editor of the Withington News magazine & chairing the Byworth Trust, as well as travelling the world with Kay.
Bryan was much loved and well respected in the community and will be very much missed by his two daughters, three granddaughters and the wider family, as well as his many friends and former colleagues.
