Tesco is bringing back its Kids Eat Free scheme to its 322 cafés across the UK over the October half term (excluding weekends).
The supermarket’s cafés will be offering one free Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal with each item bought by an adult from as little as 60p when showing their Tesco Clubcard at the till.
Popular menu items include breakfast options such as Little Beans on Toast and Little Avo on Toast. fish fingers, baked chicken goujons or a sandwich.
Hot main meals include choices such as fish fingers and baked chicken goujons with a variety of vegetable side dish options.
The sandwich pick ‘n’ mix includes a sandwich, a piece of fresh fruit and two snacks, so there’s something healthy and satisfying to feed hungry children from breakfast until dinner.
Claire De Silva, Head of Communities at Tesco, said: “We know that household budgets can be stretched over the school holidays, so offering free meals to children during the school holidays is one of the ways we can support families during this time.”
In 2023, Tesco provided more than 440,000 free meals to children and families during school holidays. Kids Eat Free is just one of the many ways that Tesco is helping families spend less.
This month saw the supermarket launch the Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools as part of its Stronger Starts programme.
The initiative will see Tesco invest £4 million of additional funding into schools to help young people get the fruit and veg into their diets that they need to thrive.
The funding will support up to 140,000 pupils in 400 schools where there is a higher-than-average free school meal ratio, and in total will provide around 16 million pieces of fruit and vegetables.
Over a school year, that’s the equivalent of 110 portions per child on average.
To help with the cost of half-term, customers can also exchange their Clubcard vouchers with Tesco Reward Partners, including family favourites such as PizzaExpress and Cineword.
