Hundreds of people turned out at Hereford Cathedral today to pay their respects to SAS soldier Mel Parry, who’s funeral took place in the city today.
Mel Parry was well known for being one of the soldiers who stormed the Iranian Embassy in 1980, helping to save 19 hostages.
Mel recently passed away in Hereford following a short illness.
Mel was awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for his part in rescuing hostages from the siege.
Mel’s funeral took place shortly after midday, with a service in Hereford Cathedral, where a stained-glass window is located in respect to the SAS.
