From Bromyard Fire Station:

“Fire crews from Hereford Fire Station and Animal Rescue Team from Bromyard were called this morning to Rescue Rio, a horse that had been startled and then fallen in to a ditch with running water.

“Rio’s owners quickly requested the fire service to assist and they contacted Belmont Vets who were soon in attendance. Hanna looked after Rio’s wellbeing, Rio was sedated so that the rescue could take place, arrangements were made for a telehandler to be available to lift Rio out of the ditch and takes to a place of safety.

“The rescue straps and quick release harness were placed around her after a short lift crews were able to get Rio out of the water on to the embankment where she was placed on a large guild board which we could pull her along to her stable and after a short time she was able to stand up. Hanna was then able to carry out a full health check.”
