The Environment Agency has issued an update on the flooding situation on the River Wye in Herefordshire.
The update says:
River levels are high at the Mordiford and Ross on Wye river gauges following persistent rainfall. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Wye from Hay on Wye to Ross on Wye. Other locations that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford. Hay on Wye gauge is forecast to peak between 2.1 and 2.6m Thursday morning 24/12/20, Bredwardine between 4.7 and 5.2m Thursday morning, Belmont 4.9 to 5.4m Thursday evening, Old Wye Bridge 4.5 to 5m Thursday evening, Mordiford 4.8 to 5.3m Thursday evening & Ross on Wye 4.2 to 4.7m Thursday evening. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 36 hours. We expect river levels to remain high into the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid contact with flood water & plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
