A number of roads across Herefordshire remain closed this morning, following Storm Darragh which brought strong winds and flooding to Herefordshire over the weekend.
Hundreds of homes across Herefordshire remain without power. A small number of properties have been without power since the early hours of Saturday.
National Grid have confirmed that they will pay compensation to households without power for more than 24 hours / 48 hours.
‘We would like to apologise to all our Customers affected by the Storm and thank you for your continued patience whilst we restored supplies.
‘We will be making customer guarantee payments to customers who are eligible under the Standards of Performance Regulations. There is no requirement to make a claim.
‘We will be collating information about all the power outages experienced during the storm period.
‘This will provide us with the information to assess eligibility for customer guarantee payments under the Standards of Performance.
‘This normally takes 10 working days.
‘However, this process may take longer during due to the impact of the storm and the number of customers affected.
‘We would kindly request you check our website and social media for updates on this.
‘For a category 1 storm the payment is £85 for power cuts lasting more than 24 hours (from time of notification) and £40 for each complete 6 hour period thereafter. For a category 2 storm the payment is £85 for power cuts lasting more than 48 hours (from time of notification) and £40 for each complete 6 hour period thereafter.’

A number of flood alerts and warnings remain in force, particularly on the River Wye.
Levels have peaked in Hay-on-Wye, Bredwardine and Hereford, but continue to rise downstream and Ross-on-Wye and Lydbrook.
A peak of 4.3-4.7 metres is expected in Ross-on-Wye this morning.
