A flood alert has been issued on the River Wye in Powys this evening, with torrential rain causing a significant rise in river levels in places such as Builth Wells and Glasbury.

National Resources Wales said:

“This message will be updated on Floodline and on our website at 7 AM. At 10 PM, the level at Llandewi was 0.7 metres and rising. The level at Disserth was 1.4 metres and rising. The level at Builth Wells was 2.7 metres and rising. River levels are rising in the Upper Wye catchment and have yet to peak at Builth Wells. This is in response to heavy and persistent rainfall where flood alert thresholds are likely to be exceeded overnight. The level at Erwood was 1.8 metres and rising. The level at Glasbury was 1.2 metres and rising. The level at Hay on Wye was 0.6 metres and rising.”
