There are difficult conditions on many routes in Herefordshire this morning following heavy rain overnight.
Four flood alerts have also been issued, with more expected to be issued in the coming hours.
River Wye in Herefordshire:

River levels have risen at the Hay-On-Wye river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible today, 27/01/25.
We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Wye from Hay on Wye to Ross on Wye. Other locations that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford. Predicted peaks:- Hay on Wye 1.9m to 2.1m this morning, Bredwardine 3.5m to 3.8m Monday morning, Belmont 3.6m to 3.9m Monday afternoon, Old Wye Bridge 3.2m to 3.4m Monday afternoon, Mordiford 3.7m to 4.0m Monday evening, Ross on Wye 3.5m to 3.8m tuesday morning. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next hours. We expect river levels to remain high in the coming days.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.
River Frome in Herefordshire:

River levels are rising at the Bishops Frome river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible today, 26/01/25.
We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Frome from Bromyard to Hereford. Other locations that may be affected include Bishops Frome and Yarkhill. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to remain high in the coming days.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and or Local Authorities.
Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
River Lugg – south of Leominster:

River levels are rising at the Lugwardine river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible today, 26/01/25.
We expect flooding to affect Low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Lugg south of Leominster from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. Other locations that may be affected include Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to remain high in the coming days.

River Leadon Catchment:

River levels are rising at the Wedderburn Bridge River gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible Sunday Evening, 26/01/25 and into Monday morning, 27/01/25.
We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Leadon. Locations that may be affected include Ledbury, Much Marcle, Staunton and Tibberton. Water may be out of bank at Upleadon Court
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days.

A4113 Leintwardine – Emergency Road Closure due to the high levels of the watercourse impacting safety to the public.
Tuck Mill Lane, Marstow – Emergency Closure due to flooding.
There is standing water on the A49 between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye, at Harewood End.
Flooding is affecting a section of the B4215 between Newent and Gloucester.
We’ve also received reports of standing water and flooding in places on the A465 between Pandy and Llangua (Wales / Herefordshire border).
The Met Office has issued a weather warning, with heavy rain expected to cause issues with flooding in parts of England and Wales on Monday.
With heavy rain falling on Thursday and Friday last week, as well as on Sunday, any further rain across Wales and parts of Herefordshire is likely to result in surface water and river flooding.
A Met Office warning for heavy rain that covers Herefordshire on Monday says:
‘A period of heavy rain is likely to affect central and southern England and much of Wales during Sunday morning followed by some heavy, thundery showers.
‘Quite widely, 10-20 mm will fall, with locally nearer 30-50 mm over high ground, particularly over exposed south or southeast-facing upslopes.
‘It’s then possible that a further spell of heavy rain may develop and affect parts of England and Wales on Sunday evening, clearing early Monday and should this be the case a few places may see as much as 80 mm of rainfall in total.
‘Given recent heavy rain, this extra rainfall could lead to some local surface water and river flooding.’
