Reaction from Herefordshire following the death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday.
A statement from the Rt Revd Richard Jackson, Bishop of Hereford, following the death of Pope Francis:
“I join together with the many voices who have already expressed their sadness upon hearing the news this morning of the death of Pope Francis.
“His ministry was remarkable and defined by faithful service, courage, and profound wisdom that touched countless lives around the world.
“His loss will be felt far beyond the Roman Catholic community, as his light shone for the entire global church. As we pray for the Church he shepherded, we take comfort knowing that he now rests in peace and rises in glory.”
From Hereford Cathedral:
“Our Cathedral community was deeply saddened to learn of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis, whose prophetic witness to the faith was an inspiration to so many Christians across the world.
“May he rest in peace and rise in glory.”
