St Teilo’s historic churchyard in Llantilio Pertholey — near the Herefordshire border in Monmouthshire — has been a place of remembrance, reflection and community heritage for generations. Today, it is at risk.

Severe storm damage caused by Storm Claudia in November and Storm Chandra in January has left parts of the churchyard vulnerable to further erosion.

The storms have destabilised the ground, and without urgent work, more land could be lost.

£45,000 is needed to stabilise and protect the churchyard. Unfortunately, these essential repairs are not covered by insurance.

This appeal is about more than repairing land. It is about protecting a sacred place that holds centuries of local history and the resting place of loved ones. Once lost, this heritage cannot be replaced.

Further heavy rainfall could worsen the damage, so acting quickly is vital to secure the churchyard for the future.

This year the community are asked to “spring into action” and help preserve this special place of remembrance.

Every donation, large or small, will make a difference.
