Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford has confirmed this afternoon that Wales will place a ban on people travelling to the country from UK COVID-19 hotspots.

Welsh first minister has announced a ban on anyone living in areas with a high levels of COVID-19 in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland entering Wales.

The ban is set to come into place from 6pm on Friday. Those travelling to work or an educational setting in Wales are expected to be exempt to these restrictions.

“We want to act now in order to prevent the worst from happening, to give us a better chance of getting through the rest of the autumn and the winter,” the first minister said.
