Two men have been charged with attempted murder in connection with an alleged stabbing in the Forest of Dean last week.

The charges relate to an incident around 4.20pm on Wednesday 9 August in Berry Hill near Coleford.

George Gadsby, 25 and of no fixed address, and Leigh Papps, 34 and of Greenfield Road, Joy’s Green, Lydbrook, Forest of Dean have both been charged with attempted murder.

They appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (12 August) and were remanded in custody. They are next due to appear at Gloucester Crown Court on 15 September.

A man aged in his 20s remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Two other people who had been arrested in connection with the incident, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s, were later released on police bail.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to carry out high-visibility patrols in the area and engage with the community. Anyone who has concerns is encouraged to speak with local officers.
